Click here or on the link below to read an interesting article about a proposed plan for Chicago to go paperless by 2015. The idea seems ideal especially in an economy where any cut back would help improve the bottom line. However, going paperless means a lot more change and additional costs than expected.

"iPads may be everywhere, but data from three distinct publication groups indicate that despite its seeming ubiquity, it's too soon for publishers to ditch print for pixel-only publications." - Two Sides

NewPage Paper has announced that they are discontinuing their Centura, Productolith, and Sterling Ultra lines. They have "shifted" gears and designed Sterling Premium,"the only paper you’ll ever want or need".
The New Sterling Premium is smoother than the previous grades because it has three layers of coating as opposed to two. The brightness of 94 puts it at a Premium/Number One level, and it is priced as a Number Two. Printers, Designers, and the end client will be happy with this new grade because of it's premium qualities, the excellent printability, and it's affordable price.

This i-Tone treated paper has a dry adhesive on the back side of each sheet. Combined with the TRU-flat binding technology, Panoramic Papers results in a book with images flowing seamlessly across the fold.

Drupa Day 1 [Video]
Welcome to the first day of our live coverage of Drupa direct from the
halls in Germany! We had a great (albeit sleepy) first day at the show.
Today, our Chris Harrold intros our plans for the seven days of coverage,
gives a peak of our booth, and introduces our three speakers for the day.
First, Amnon from HP Indigo talks photo publishing, then we talked with
Bill from Kodak about their Prosper inkjet platform. Our coverage wrapped
up with Erin from ODM demonstrating the new sidewinder automated bindery
equipment designed specifically for Mohawk’s panoramic papers. We’ll
see you all tomorrow for Day 2 of coverage!

When Mohawk purchased Smart Papers, the grades with high recycled-content were brought into a new line called “Loop.” Included in Loop are the legacy Proterra, Genesis, Passport, and Synergy grades. You will recognize many of the colors and finishes.
Also included in Loop are two new grades: Silk Coated and Inxwell.
Silk is a coated paper containing 50% recycled content. Inxwell is an uncoated sheet with 100% recycled content and a special finish that reduces dot gain.
